Kieran Maguire shares ‘huge’ Harry Kane claim after new Tottenham development

Tottenham will be able to replace Harry Kane from a commercial point of view despite him being the ‘face of the club’.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Kane’s departure will not have a major impact on the attractiveness of Tottenham to commercial partners.

With only one year remaining on his Tottenham contract, Kane has been linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer.

German giants Bayern Munich have held concrete talks with the North London side, but their £86million bid for the England captain has been rejected.

While selling Kane would have a huge impact on Tottenham’s squad, the 30-year-old is also at the forefront of Tottenham’s commercial output.

However, Maguire insists that Tottenham would ‘cope’ with losing Kane from a commercial standpoint as other players in Ange Postecoglou’s squad are marketable.

Harry Kane has been a magnificent servant for Spurs and he is very much the face of the club,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

But the nature of football is that it is a transient industry and Kane, while being the club’s record goalscorer, is not bigger than the club.

“Manchester United managed to cope with losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, and while losing Kane would be a huge disappointment for Tottenham I don’t think it would have a huge impact on commercial sales.

Tottenham

They have plenty of other players with big marketability and that would sell shirts.

That will be replicated in future years, regardless of whether Kane is there or not.”
