Kieran Tierney transfer to Newcastle United is ‘getting done’ after what ‘I’ve heard’ – pundit
Frank McAvennie has claimed a deal between Newcastle United and Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney is “getting done” after what he’s heard.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said a move to Newcastle would be “ideal” for Tierney.
The 25-year-old’s Arsenal contract runs until 2026 after he joined from Celtic back in 2019.
But, the left-back has struggled to make his mark on the first team and has fallen further down the pecking order since the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer.
Last month (14 March), Football Insider revealed that Magpies boss Eddie Howe has told the club that Tierney is one of his top summer targets.
Howe believes the Scotland international is a player that could slot straight into the starting XI and improve it.
The Newcastle boss has presented Tierney to sporting director Dan Ashworth and requested that he pull out all the stops to secure the £30million-rated defender.
McAvennie insisted joining the north east giants is the perfect move for the Scotland international.
“I have heard that they are in for Tierney and that could be getting done,” he told Football Insider.

“I could understand that. It would be an ideal situation for Tierney, it is only a few hours away from Glasgow and it would be great for him.
“How he can’t get a game in the Arsenal team is incredible but it is the way they want to play. I just think it is crazy.”
