Koeman reveals remedy for Everton lack of confidence ahead of clash v Bournemouth

Everton boss Ronald Koeman believes that “winning is the best medicine” for his squad after a series of disappointing results across the Premier and Europa League.

The Toffees finally put an end to their stream of matches without a win as they secured a 3-0 victory over Sunderland in the third round of the League cup on Wednesday.

Goals from Oumar Niasse and European Golden Boy nominee Dominic Calvert-Lewin ensured the Blues soared through into the fourth round of the competition where they will next face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Merseyside club look ahead to their Premier League battle against Bournemouth as they hope to end their losing streak after suffering defeats to Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United over recent weeks.

The Blues boss thinks that Wednesday’s victory will boost the confidence of his team ahead of their weekend clash.

“Now we need to show we are strong. Winning is the best medicine for confidence,” Koeman said during the press conference, as quoted on the club’s official Twitter account.

The battle doesn’t end on Saturday as Koeman’s squad host Apollon Limassol in their second group match of the Europa League next week and will be hoping to improve on their previous efforts.

Last week, during the opening of their European competition the Toffees suffered a 3-0 defeat to Italian side Atalanta, and Koeman will want to ensure that their isn’t a repeat of that at Goodison Park.
