Kyle Walker ‘to leave Man City within days’ after ‘making feelings clear’

Kyle Walker is expected to complete his move to AC Milan “within days” as he continues to push for a move away from Man City.

This is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the move is now “inevitable” and the best outcome for all parties.

The 34-year-old has now been left out of Pep Guardiola’s squad for their last four games after making his intentions to leave the Etihad clear.

Walker is thought to be open to a move to Italy as it will better suit his game amid fears that he has begun to slow down in the twilight of his career.

Football Insider revealed in November that staff at Man City had raised concerns about the right-back’s performances and the quick decline of his abilities.

As a result, they have turned their attention to the transfer market and are expected to strengthen in his position after his exit is sealed.

Brown told Football Insider in October that City had already begun working on deals to sign a replacement for Walker amid a feeling that he was coming to the end of his time.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that City are equally as interested in seeing him leave as he is in making the move away.

He’s made it clear to City that he wants out,” he told Football Insider.

“So in that case, the sooner he leaves the club, the better.

“They don’t want a player who doesn’t want to be there, so I’d expect them to push him out of the door just as much as he wants to leave.

“I think that’s a deal that will happen, probably in days rather than weeks.

“It feels inevitable now that he is going to leave Manchester City.

“If he thinks he’s lost a bit of his edge, which I think he has, then the move to Italy will suit him.

“It’s in his best interest and the club’s best interest to make sure that deal goes through.

“The whole thing has happened quickly and I think it will be wrapped up soon.”
