Leandro Trossard responds to Jeremy Doku’s message with Arsenal transfer on the cards
Arsenal and Manchester City are both well underway with summer rebuilds as they bid to close the gap on Liverpool next season.
Liverpool have strengthened massive since they waltzed to the Premier League title last term with almost £300million spent already, and another £150m potentially in the pipeline with their bid for Alexander Isak.
Man City are looking to bounce back from their third-placed finish off the back of four straight titles, and Pep Guardiola spent £115m on four new players before the Club World Cup as part of a huge overhaul.
Arsenal‘s summer has been more calculated so far and the first of six new signings didn’t arrive until 1 July, but Mikel Arteta has gone all guns blazing since as Arsenal’s spending climbs towards £200m.
Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke’s additions in particular have taken the strength of Arsenal’s frontline up several notches, but this has left the likes of Leandro Trossard with uncertain futures at the Emirates.

Doku ‘glad to be back’ as Trossard weighs up Arsenal future
Trossard has been tipped as the most likely candidate to be sold by Arsenal as Arteta reshapes the Gunners’ frontline this summer, with more additions on the cards after Gyokeres and Madueke’s arrivals.
The Belgian’s international team-mate Jeremy Doku doesn’t face the same risk at Man City despite the additions of Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri, both of whom could play out wide in Guardiola’s 3-2-4-1.
Man City‘s return to pre-season training was delayed by their participation in the Club World Cup this summer, and Doku posted on Instagram after he rocked up to Etihad Campus on 28 July.
Trossard was one of several international and club team-mates to like Doku’s post, which said: “Good to be back”.
Trossard transfer on the cards as Arsenal ready fresh Eze bid
Football Insider Verdict
Although Arsenal are in the midst of an attacking transformation this summer, Bukayo Saka‘s place on the right flank is untouchable (when fit) and that leaves just two spots up for grabs in Arteta’s frontline.
Madueke provides added competition to Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri out wide, but the level of competition could be raised even further if Arsenal can complete a £68m move for Eberechi Eze.
Eze has the number 10 shirt ready and waiting for him at the Emirates this summer as Arteta prepares to place the final piece of next season’s jigsaw, and the writing could be on the wall for Trossard if Arsenal sign another option for their left flank.
