Leeds expected 4-2-3-1 v Huddersfield: 25-year-old axed
COMMENT By Harvey Byrne
It is expected that Garry Monk will axe Stuart Dallas from his Leeds lineup for Sunday’s important Championship clash against Huddersfield.
The 25-year-old scored in the midweek victory over Blackburn, but he did little else across the match, while also displaying that he lacks the required pace to be a constant threat.
Additionally, Monk brought in wing duo Alfonso Pedraza and Modou Barrow on deadline-day and it is likely he will give the two speedsters their debuts against the Terriers.
The manager’s only other expected change is also likely come in the attacking midfield three with Pablo Hernandez to come in to the centre.
The Spaniard started from the bench in midweek, but came on at half time and had huge say in the result, supplying the corner for Pontus Jansson’s winning header.
These changes will likely see Hadi Sacko and Kemar Roofe join Dallas in moving out of the side after 2-1 Wednesday win.
Rob Green is expected to keep his place between the sticks after making the number one spot at the club his own following his summer move.
He will likely be shielded by an unchanged back four containing Jansson, Kyle Bartley, Luke Aying and Gaetano Berardi.
The latter is expected to keep his place in the eleven over star man Charlie Taylor with the youth graduate’s last appearance coming all the way back in December before an injury.
Midfield duo Liam Bridcutt and Eunan O’Kane are also likely to retain their places as they help form the side’s defensive unit, while providing freedom for the attackers.
The attacking three of Hernandez, Pedraza and Barrow looks very threatening on paper and they will be hoping to produce out on the pitch.
This could see top scorer Chris Wood profit, who will be eager to add to his 20 goals in all competitions this season.
In other Leeds team news, Monk has confirmed that these two players will be available to face the Terriers.
