‘Absolutely outrageous’, ‘Different gravy’ – Leeds fans in meltdown over 17-yr-old’s U23s display
By Richard Parks
Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to drool over young striker Jack Clarke after his display for the Under-23s in their 3-0 win against Cardiff City on Friday.
United’s development side continued their impressive run with a convincing home win over their Championship rivals at Thorp Arch on Friday afternoon.
The goals were scored by Sam Dalby, the striker who netted twice in Monday’s 3-2 triumph over Ipswich Town at Portman Road, substitute Clarke Odour and Madgar Gomes from the penalty spot.
But the player who Leeds fans were talking about on social media was wide forward Clarke, 17, who tore Cardiff to ribbons from his left flank role.
The teenager, who signed a professional contract with Leeds on his birthday last November, provided the assists for both of Dalby and Odour’s goals.
Now many United fans are calling for Paul Heckingbottom to fast-track him into the senior XI following recent promotions for fellow academy products Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Tom Pearce.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
