Why is he on the pitch? Leeds fans fume at first-half display of one player v Reading
Leeds United went in at half-time all square against Reading in the Championship in the Saturday afternoon kick-off.
Ezgjan Alioski went close to giving the Whites the lead in the 8th minute when Laurens De Bock put in a sublime ball from the left.
But Caleb Ekuban’s missed effort found it’s way through to the Albanian whose shot was pushed away by the Reading stopper.
The Royals then took the lead in the 16th minute when Jón Daði Böðvarsson fired past Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
Supporters though were not happy with the performance of their striker Ekuban, who came into the side in place of Pierre Michel-Lasogga and disappointed.
His display was so bad one fan even asked ‘Ekuban has been near a football before hasn’t he?’
Not a lot was expected of the home side considering that they haven’t won at home at all since November and more worryingly for the Royals, not at all on a Saturday all season long.
It was a statistic that ought to have given Paul Heckingbottom’s side hope given their own poor run.
And talisman Pontus Jansson got them level just before half-time to give Leeds fans hope – if Ekuban can pull his finger out.
Here is a selection of Twitter reactions at half time to the player’s performance:
