Leeds fans react on Twitter to omission of midfielder against Huddersfield
By Will Butcher
Kemar Roofe was left out of Leeds’ matchday squad to face Huddersfield through injury – and Leeds fans reacted with both shock and frustration on Twitter.
The 24-year-old has been one of the first names on Garry Monk’s team sheet this season since his £3million summer move from Oxford United.
Leeds came unstuck against Huddersfield on Sunday as a 2-1 defeat at the home of their bitter rivals means they drop one place to fifth in the league.
However, Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Lee Sobot revealed on his personal Twitter account that last season’s League Two Player of the Season had been left out through injury rather than the manager’s unhappiness with his form.
Roofe’s versatility this season has allowed him to be given a regular run in the side, as he can play both out wide and in the number 10 role.
Making 35 appearances in all competitions for Monk’s side, Leeds’ number seven has scored three goals as well as providing six assists and his attacking threat could prove a big loss.
Leeds fans were initially devastated on Twitter after learning that Roofe had been left out of Monk’s match day squad.

Monk has instead decided to start Souleymane Doukara and Stuart Dallas out wide, with new signings Alfonso Pedraza and Modou Barrow on the substitutes’ bench.
