Personal terms close to being agreed between Leeds first teamer and English club – report
By Harvey Byrne
Senior Leeds player Charlie Taylor is in advanced talks with Premier League side Burnley, according to a report.
The Lancashire Telegraph have claimed on their website that the 23-year-old is keen on a move to Turf Moor with personal terms close to being agreed.
However, it is also detailed that both Burnley and Leeds are apart in their valuations of the Elland Road youth graduate, which is causing a halt to the deal.
Taylor’s contract is set to expire at Leeds at the end of June, but due to being under the age of 24 the Yorkshire giants will be due a fee and they are confident that they will receive in excess of £5million for him.
Taylor has been a frequent part of the Leeds first team since making his debut in August 2011 and last season he featured in 29 matches in the Championship, returning four assists.
But, then manager Garry Monk publicly called him out on the final day of the season for refusing to play in the 1-1 draw against Wigan at the DW Stadium.
Leeds have since offered him a new contract to ensure that they do at least receive a fee for him and it is looking increasingly likely that his future lies away from Elland Road.
Football Insider verdict:
Taylor is clearly a talented footballer and would still be considered a key part of the current Leeds team if not for his refusal on the final day. However, it is now looking likely that Taylor is turning his back on a club that he has been with since a young age and there is certainly no way back for him with the famous Elland Road support. Therefore, Taylor’s career most definitely lies elsewhere and it is now down to those in charge to get as high an amount as possible.
