Leeds player ratings v Cambridge: Attacker is 4/10
By Dominic Toner
Football Insider rates the Leeds players after their 2-1 victory against Cambridge in the FA Cup third-round match on Monday night.
Marco Silvestri 6 – The goalkeeper was wrong footed for Cambridge’s opening goal as he was beaten at his near post. Made a couple of good saves though for the team.
Gaetano Berardi 6 – The defender was back in his preferred right-back position and Monk took him off at half-time as he picked up a yellow card. Leeds are still without Charlie Taylor and couldn’t afford for him to pick up a suspension.
Liam Cooper 6 – The centre-back was tested by Cambridge striker Uche Ikpeazu. He saw his header from a corner denied as he tried to level the score at 1-1.
Pontus Jansson 7 – The centre-back will miss Leeds’ next two games against Derby and Barnsley after picking up a yellow card for an elbow. He was still the club’s most reliable defender and had a hand in the winning goal.
Tyler Denton 5 – The youngster looked nervous in the first-half and offered little attacking threat. Unlikely to challenge Charlie Taylor in the near future.
Matt Grimes 5 – The midfielder was wasteful in possession and looked out of his depth in the Leeds team. Better performance after the break, but missed a big opportunity to impress.
Kalvin Phillips 6 – The combative midfielder was another who had a game of two halves, much better display when he got into the opponents faces.
Alex Mowatt 9 – The midfielder looked the most likely all game and grabbed the assist for Dallas’ header, with a fantastic cross for the equaliser. He then made the game 2-1 with a header of his own from a corner. Standout player on the pitch.
Stuart Dallas 7 – The wide man produced a strong performance after the break and scored an equalising goal with a fantastic header.
Souleymane Doukara 4 – The attacker had a nightmare game and was very sloppy in possession. He was replaced after making no impact in the game.
Marcus Antonsson 6 – The striker was unable to link-up play in attack and was left extremely isolated for long parts, but battled all night.
Lewie Coyle (for Berardi 45mins) 6
Kemar Roofe (for Doukara 59mins) 6
Kyle Bartley (for Cooper 71mins) 6
