Leeds United news: Kalvin Phillips ‘is off’ after £70m Liverpool news – pundit

Leeds United have “no chance” of keeping Kalvin Phillips if Liverpool attempt to sign him.

That’s according to former Whites stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider amid several developments on the midfielder’s future.

This site revealed on Wednesday (9 March) Phillips has been told “we will get you to Liverpool” by one leading agency.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that the midfielder has been told by some of the biggest agents in the game they have the connections to seal him a move to a Champions League giant.

This comes after our pundit Danny Mills revealed in these pages that he’s been told Phillips “is just about to change or has changed agents”.

Kenny claims Marcelo Bielsa’s sacking could make Phillips’ potential Elland Road exit slightly easier.

“When teams like Liverpool are mentioned, it’s a no brainer,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Playing for a team in a relegation fight won’t help his England chances.

“If you have the chance to go to a Liverpool or someone else of that calibre, you take it.

“I know he has an affinity with Leeds but he will want to win trophies and he’s just lost Bielsa.

“We know how much he liked Bielsa so leaving could be a bit easier now.

“I just think if Liverpool come knocking Leeds have no chance of keeping him, he’s off.”

Sources have also told Football Insider Phillips is valued at around the £70m mark by Leeds.

His current contract runs until the summer of 2024.
