Leeds tipped to sign second defender after Alioski exit confirmed – Pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Leeds United still need to sign another left-back despite the arrival of Junior Firpo.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward suggested the Whites may look at a younger option to compliment Firpo.
Leeds confirmed the arrival of the 24-year-old yesterday (6 July) and he has signed a four-year contract.
Football Insider understands they had a bid of £12.8million accepted by Barcelona as he underwent a medical at the weekend.
The Yorkshire giants are still short at left-back though after it was confirmed Ezgjan Alioski would not be signing a new contract.
Leeds offered the North Macedonia improved terms to continue his stay at Elland Road but he will now seek a fresh challenge elsewhere.
Asked whether that means they still need to sign a new left-back, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Definitely.
“With Alioski leaving, they need two left-backs and I’m sure the club will be looking into that.
“It’s a shame because Alioski has done really well and was one of the good players in the Premier League.
“Leeds must be looking at maybe one young left-back to go with Firpo who’s a bit more experienced. It will be interesting to see who comes in.
“But yes, you definitely need a couple of left-backs in the squad.”

Alioski played all but two of Leeds’ Premier League games last term as he shared left-back duties with Stuart Dallas.
Neither are natural left-backs so Firpo’s arrival will be a big boost for Marcelo Bielsa.
In other news, Leeds United have told a 21-year-old to find a new club as exodus intensifies.
