‘Let the team down’, ‘Honking’ – Rangers fans blast 23-year-old for display v Celtic
Rangers attacker Josh Windass had a quiet afternoon in Saturday’s Old Firm clash as the game largely passed him by despite a bright start – leading to fans of the Ibrox club to blast him for his display against Celtic.
The 23-year-old has been one of Rangers’ most consistent players in recent weeks but struggled to ever really get going against Brendan Rodgers’ side at Celtic Park.
The former Accrington ace worked hard down the left but got little joy out of Mikael Lustig despite the Celtic defender not having a great afternoon himself.
Fans weren’t impressed with Windass’ performance in the Old Firm – with one fan saying the attacker went “missing.”
Here are some of their comments on Twitter:
Windass has been largely a disappointment for the Gers since moving north last summer with Matt Crooks when their Accrington contracts came to an end.
The 23-year-old has scored six times in 23 appearances this season for the Gers despite being used in a variety of different roles.
Windass has featured as a winger, number 10 and striker under Pedro Caixinha and Graeme Murty this season as the Gers look to challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title.
Saturday’s Old Firm was Windass’ 51st appearance since joining the Ibrox giants on a four-year-deal.
