‘Let the war begin’ – Rangers newbie shows fans fighting spirit ahead of Motherwell clash

Rangers’ summer signing Daniel Candeias has shown his fighting spirit on Twitter ahead of the club’s Scottish Premiership opener against Motherwell on Sunday.

The 29-year-old midfielder is part of boss Pedro Caixinha’s summer squad overhaul and moved to the Ibrox stadium from Portuguese side Benfica at the beginning of June.

The Portuguese playmaker joined the Glaswegian club on a two-year-deal and previously worked with the Gers boss while playing for Nacional during the 2011/12 season.

Now, the attacker has shown Rangers’ fans that he is ready and raring for the upcoming Premiership campaign by sharing a picture of him celebrating in a Rangers shirt on social media.

The 29-year-old also displayed his fighting mentality by declaring that during the club’s opening match the Premiership war would begin.

He shared the message alongside the photo on his official Twitter account on Saturday.

The midfielder is one of the ten signings boss Caixinha made over the summer transfer window and the squad appear to have developed a strong bond over the past few weeks.

The club had a successful run of friendlies starting with a draw against Ligue 1 giants Marseille, which was followed by two victories against English clubs Watford and Sheffield Wednesday.

Candeias will be travelling with his new team mates to Fir Park on Sunday to face Motherwell and will be hoping to secure three points after rivals Celtic beat Hearts 4-1 in their opening game.
