Levy may have broken transfer ‘promise’ to Conte after Tottenham source’s reveal – pundit
Alan Hutton has claimed Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy may have reneged on an agreement with Antonio Conte regarding new signings this month.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs defender suggested there would have been “assurances” of transfer funds available when the Italian was in talks to join the Lilywhites.
A Tottenham source told Football Insider on Monday (24 January) that Conte is putting “huge pressure” on Levy and the board to complete four new signings by Monday’s deadline.

Spurs are yet to add to their squad this month.
Hutton suggested Conte would not have joined Tottenham without the promise of funds to spend.
However, he questioned whether Levy has upheld his side of the bargain.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I thought that there would be assurances, when he did sign, that there would be money to spend.
“If you look at his track record, he’s done it at every club. He’s gone in, he’s brought in the targets he’s wanted and spent a lot of money.
“That being said, I presume Daniel Levy came to some sort of deal with him that he could do that. He’s evaluated the squad in the time that he’s had.
“He has probably picked out who he wants, who he doesn’t want the areas he needs to strengthen. Then he’s probably gone to Daniel Levy with this and still not got anybody in.
“This is Nuno’s squad, there have been no changes. Yes, he’s done really well, one loss in 10 in the league, so he is getting a tune out of them. They’re running further than they ever have, so they’re doing well.
“But he’ll want to put his own stamp on this team. We’re going in with not long left in the January window and he’s still not got a player in.
“I think he’ll be frustrated because he wanted to change certain areas of the pitch. He’s not been able to, which suggests broken promises.
“There’s still that massive gap between the likes of Tottenham and the top three. He’ll be looking to try and get them closer.
“But if he can’t bring in his own players for his vision, he can’t change it.”

As revealed by Football Insider on Wednesday (26 January), Spurs are in advanced talks to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on a loan-to-buy deal.
The Lilywhites currently sit seventh in the Premier League table.
