Liverpool are going to sign a new midfielder this month and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be sold – pundit
Frank McAvennie has urged Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to quit Liverpool as the club pave the way to sign a new midfielder this month.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Oxlade-Chamberlain is only getting game time because of injuries.
The 29-year-old made his second start of the season in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Leicester City on Friday (30 December).

He started his first game of the season in the previous fixture against Aston Villa (26 December).
Football Insider revealed in November that Liverpool will listen to offers for Oxlade-Chamberlain this month and have no plans to offer him a new contract.
The latest from an Anfield source today is the club are working on bringing in a new midfielder and have hopes of securing one before the window shuts.
When asked if recent starts could be a sign of Oxlade-Chamberlain staying at Anfield, McAvennie told Football Insider: “They have had a few injuries.
“Would he be back in the starting lineup if they had not had those injuries? I do not think so.
“I think he is a good player but he is not in Klopp’s plans. Unless he does really well and Klopp takes notice. But he sees him everyday in training, he knows what he can do.

“He is not afraid to put him in but when everyone is fit he might not even make the bench. It will probably be better if he goes. Klopp is going to strengthen in this window with a new signing so he will fall even further down the pecking order.
“There is no point in him staying if he is not going to play. I would move this month if I were him. He will be delighted to get the games but it is only because of injuries and he will know that.“
