Liverpool backed to complete Mason Mount signing after source’s £70m reveal – pundit
Frank McAvennie has insisted Mason Mount will choose Liverpool over Man United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Mount will walk straight into Jurgen Klopp’s side but faces more competition for a place at United.
On Monday (29 May), this site revealed that the Red Devils are growing in confidence about securing a deal for the 24-year old.
Erik ten Hag’s side have not reached a full agreement with the Chelsea man with Liverpool also still pushing.
The England international has not yet made up his mind on where his future lies next season.
Mount’s current contract runs until 2024 and Blues bosses have struggled to reach an agreement with the midfielder over an extension and are willing to sell if no agreement can be reached.
Last week (24 May), Football Insider revealed that Chelsea are believed to be looking for a deal worth around £70million as Mount enters the final year of his contract.
When asked what club would be the best fit for Mount, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I do not think he will stay at Chelsea.

“Man United have a lot of players in the midfield, Casemiro, [Bruno] Fernandes, [Christian] Eriksen.
“I think he would walk into the Liverpool team. Thiago [Alcantara] is not playing all the time so I think if he moves there he will walk straight into the team. I think Liverpool would be a good deal for him.“
