Liverpool ‘clearly not happy’ with Arthur Melo after ‘huge’ agent reveal – pundit

Paul Robinson has questioned Jurgen Klopp’s decision to bring Arthur Melo to Liverpool on loan.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League keeper said bringing Arthur in on loan was a “bit strange” given his lack of match fitness.

The 26-year-old has made just one appearance for the Reds since joining from Juventus on a season-long loan in the summer.

Instead of taking time off during the international break, the midfielder played for Liverpool’s under-23s.

He played 90 minutes against Leicester City on 18 September and joined up with the under-21s for their Papa John’s Trophy game against Rochdale.

As reported by CalcioMercato (29 September), Arthur’s agent Federico Pastorello has announced that the Brazilian is ready to become a regular face in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Pastorello added that there is “a huge difference” between Serie A and the Premier League.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the latest, Robinson said: “The loan bit is the strange one.

If he is not ready and not going to be any use to you, you question the initial deal. There is clearly a problem that the manager thinks he is not ready and not fit.

With the international break he has not had time off because he has been playing with the under-23s. So there is an issue with his match fitness and match sharpness. But you could put that tag on any Liverpool player at the moment, none of them look that sharp.

The manager clearly is not happy with him and he wants to put some more time in before he utilises him.
