Liverpool edge closer to Jude Bellingham signing after Jordan Henderson reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has suggested Jordan Henderson would be a great role model for Jude Bellingham if he joins Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker insisted Henderson is a great player to have in the dressing room.

The midfielder has made 23 appearances for the Reds this season and has been in the starting XI for four of those games.

The 32-year-old was not included in the matchday squad for the 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid last week (15 March), due to illness.

The England international joined Anfield way back in 2011 and has been an integral member of the squad.

Bellingham is a top target for Jurgen Klopp’s side this summer as they look to overhaul the midfield with new arrivals.

On 20 March, Football Insider revealed that Liverpool believe Bellingham’s friendship with Henderson can help lure him to Anfield in the summer.

Real Madrid, Man City and Chelsea remain in the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund star but the Reds believe Henderson can help influence his choice and have given him permission to reach out.

McAvennie insisted Henderson would be the perfect mentor for Bellingham.

He is the captain, I think if Bellingham came Henderson would be a great person to learn from,” he told Football Insider.

It would be great to have him about. He has been a magnificent servant to Liverpool but the engine room is for young guys.

No matter how good Jordan is on the ball, when people are running past him he can’t do anything about it. Bellingham would be an incredible signing for Liverpool, no doubt about that.”
