Liverpool fans warned not to spoil Crystal Palace game with ‘rubbish’ boos by ex-Red

Liverpool supporters have been told not to spoil the title celebrations as they take on Crystal Palace over their views towards Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Arne Slot’s side wrapped up the Premier League with four games still remaining, and will be presented with the trophy after their final day clash with the Eagles.

Since Liverpool beat Tottenham 5-1 to take an unassailable lead over second-place Arsenal, they haven’t won a league game.

Brighton and Chelsea both beat the already-crowned champions, with the Gunners coming from behind to draw 2-2 at Anfield.

Hutchison advises against boos

Alexander-Arnold’s departure from Liverpool has slightly soured the title celebrations at Anfield, with Reds fans disappointed at the manner of his exit.

Real Madrid are set to confirm the signing of Alexander-Arnold, who ran down his contract in the North-West in order to move to Spain.

Liverpool fans booed the 26-year-old when he came on against Arsenal, but former player Don Hutchison has urged the Anfield crowd to refrain from voicing their annoyance against Crystal Palace as it would look “rubbish”.

The ex-Reds player took to X with a message to fans (25 May), saying: “My humble opinion is … Sing Trent’s name as loud as possible. That’s the classy thing to do. The Boo’s can wait for another day. It would be a rubbish look to boo him, as it will be beamed across the world. This should be a carnival day. It would spoil it for his teammates.”

Liverpool move on from Alexander-Arnold

Football Insider Verdict

As Alexander-Arnold bids farewell to his boyhood club, the champions have already begun preparations for life without their right-back.

In a bid to replace the defender, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Liverpool are set to add Jeremie Frimpong to their ranks.

The full-back has been impressive for Bayer Leverkusen this season, picking up five goals and five assists in 33 Bundesliga games.

Football Insider also exclusively revealed that Liverpool are closing in on signing Florian Wirtz, as they attempt to add even more quality to their squad.

Additions like Frimpong and Wirtz will help Reds supporters get over the disappointment of losing Alexander-Arnold, as well as giving Slot’s side a huge boost in their Premier League title defence.
