Liverpool have finalised triple-your-money deal – Keith Wyness: ‘this is big’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Liverpool have tripled their revenue from kit suppliers in just five years after signing a new Adidas deal.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the Reds have taken advantage of the German sportswear giants’ poor recent performance in the market to secure the big-money deal.
Liverpool will wear Adidas kits from the 2025-26 season after agreeing a five-year deal to succeed Nike.
New Balance, who were suppliers between 2015 and 2020, paid the Merseysiders a base figure of £25million – while Nike currently pay a base fee of £30million.
Adidas have blown competitors out of the water to land crucial ‘£80m’ Liverpool deal, says Wyness
Wyness has claimed Adidas had to do “something big” to fight back in the sportswear market and could pay Liverpool “£80million” after bonuses.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Adidas have been with Liverpool twice before.
“From a club point of view, you tend to pick the supplier which has been wounded – as they want to get back into the market.
“Adidas have had some big issues recently, with the Kanye West scandals and the loss of the German national team as a major client.
“This Liverpool deal is something big for them, they had to do it to make a mark again. Liverpool fit the situation Adidas are in.

“The good news for Liverpool is that they had been looking at around £25million with New Balance, and £35million with Nike. Now we’re looking at £50million with bonuses which can rise to £80million.
“The club have a great global audience and have performed well. They are a marquee brand.”
