Liverpool player ratings v Burnley: 24-year-old has a shocker

COMMENT By Harvey Byrne

Football Insider rates the Liverpool players out of ten after their 2-1 win against Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Simon Mignolet 4 – His ball distribution was poor and while he couldn’t do a lot for the goal he was more like a spectator, rather than a paid professional.

Nathaniel Clyne 4 – Completely lost Ashley Barnes for the goal, while his final balls up the pitch was often abysmal.

Joel Matip 5 – Struggled in the back four. Whether it’s because he was partnered with Klavan rather than Dejan Lovren is a question. But, improvements needed.

Ragnar Klavan 3 – No where near the quality needed for Liverpool once again. Too slow for the Premier League and was at fault for the Burnley goal.

James Milner 4 – Another player too slow in the Reds’ defence. A more pacey full-back is needed for a home match against Burnley. Milner does a solid job, but he is all too often predictable.

Georginio Wijnaldum 7 – Struggled in the match before scoring the all important equaliser just before half-time.

Emre Can 7 – Handed the role of sitting in front of the back four on Sunday, but his best bit of play came up the pitch as he netted a fine long-range effort to put his team in front.

Adam Lallana 7 – The midfielder continues to impress this season. Has a touch of class and the work rate and desire to match.

Sadio Mane 7 – Also showed a high work rate in the Liverpool attack. So often looked a danger with the ball at his feet, but his final ball was all that was lacking.

Divock Origi 6 – Earned himself two assists, but an improvement still needed. The Belgian forward was hopeless aerially while struggling to work any efforts on goal himself.

Philippe Coutinho 3 – The 24-year-old had a shocker. Didn’t turn up for the match at all and was deservedly brought off in the second half.
