Liverpool player ratings v Chelsea: Surprise Klopp selection has 4/10 shocker

Mohamed Salah – 9

Another brilliant performance from Liverpool’s best player.

Showed his predatory instinct with a clinical finish to give Liverpool the lead.

Almost scored a late winner but was denied by Courtois.

Daniel Sturridge – 4

Daniel Sturridge runs through on goal for his English club Liverpool

Was a surprise selection by Jurgen Klopp but didn’t get in the game at all.

Found himself crowded out on occasion and was trying too hard.

Injuries have turned him into the shadow of the player he was.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7

One of his best games since joining in August from Arsenal.

Was involved in Salah’s goal and caused Chelsea problems on the wing.

Can be satisfied with his display.

Substitutes

Georginio Wijnaldum – 5
Came on in the 66th minute, but struggled to get into the game. Unfortunate that his introduction to the game coincided with Chelsea starting to take control

Sadio Mane – n/a
A surprise that he didn’t start the game and that he didn’t come on until the 89th minute. Could perhaps have swung the game back in Liverpool’s favour if he had been introduced earlier.

Adam Lallana – n/a

Made his long-awaited return from injury in the 89th minute. Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool fans will be delighted to have him back in the squad and he may well be involved against Stoke on Wednesday.
