Liverpool set to miss out on Jude Bellingham after source’s ‘huge’ reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has claimed Liverpool can no longer afford to sign Jude Bellingham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker tipped Bellingham to join Real Madrid in the summer, provided he does well at the World Cup.

On Saturday (29 October), sources told this site that the Reds are worried they will be priced out of a potential deal for the 19-year-old.

Borussia Dortmund believe they will be able to demand a “huge fee” for the midfielder in the summer if they choose to sell.

The Merseysiders have held extensive talks behind the scenes with the player’s team but are now concerned his price will soar beyond the £100million mark.

The England international’s current Dortmund contract is set to expire in 2025.

McAvennie has suggested Liverpool will be struggling to compete with other big European clubs.

I don’t know if Liverpool can afford him now,” he told Football Insider.

If he goes to the World Cup and has a good World Cup the only team he will be going to is Real Madrid I would think.

I would pull out all the stops to try and get him. Next year they want to challenge Man City. Plus you can see what is happening at Newcastle, they are going to be challenging for top four next year.

I think Liverpool have got to buy because there will not be a money problem at Newcastle to buy players.
