Medical insider cites ‘career-threatening’ injury after update on Liverpool star Fabio Carvalho
Fabio Carvalho will make a speedy recovery at Liverpool – but dead legs must be handled with extreme caution.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.
Carvalho, who joined the Reds from Fulham over the summer, has not featured since he was forced off with a knee issue in the 0-0 draw with Everton (3 September).

As quoted by Liverpool World last Friday (9 September), Jurgen Klopp revealed that the 20-year-old had a “massive dead leg, which caused the muscle some problems”.
Dinnery forecasted that the attacker will be back in action soon but was also keen to stress that dead leg injuries are not always as innocuous as they seem.
“Most people have suffered a dead leg at some point,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“For the majority, these are minor instances. They can be very painful and restrict movement of the leg but symptoms ease in three or four days.
“However, there are occasions when they cause a deep haematoma in the leg. One example in recent times is Raphinha. He suffered a bad one 18 months ago.
“A haematoma, which causes blood to circulate and gather around the joint or the muscle, can cause the leg to swell. Rafinha’s leg swelled to twice the size it was before.
“Within a matter of hours, he was taken to hospital. It needed to be drained and he was on crutches.

“Sometimes it can be career-threatening. With Christian Ziege, complications could have led to the amputation of his leg and even death.
“For 99 per cent, there are no complications. But for a handful of players, you need to be really careful how you handle it because of complications further down the line.”
