Liverpool transfer news: Five centre-backs who could be signed this summer after source’s reveal
Liverpool are set for a major shake-up this summer, with that shake-up primarily involving a managerial switch.
Legendary boss Jurgen Klopp will leave at the end of the current campaign, with a replacement yet to be announced.
But there is also expected to be action in the transfer window, with a central defender potential high on the priority list.
Football Insider analyses five centre-backs that the Reds could sign as back-ups to captain Virgil van Dijk, the club’s number one option in the left side of central defence, with number five being the least likely option and number one being the most likely.
5. Lloyd Kelly (Bournemouth)

The 25-year-old has been a standout for Bournemouth when available this season, with the centre-back unfortunately plagued by injury in recent times.
Such injuries mean a switch to Merseyside is not the most likely scenario, with the Reds certain to seek a more fit option to back up Van Dijk.
4. Edmond Tapsoba (Bayer Leverkusen)
As reported by The Athletic in January, Tapsoba is naturally a right-sided centre-back, but the 25-year-old has spent the majority of the campaign with Bayer Leverkusen playing as a left-sided centre-back in a back three.
Such versatility would be warmly welcomed by the new manager at Anfield, with Tapsoba enjoying a superb season as his side close in on a memorable Bundesliga title.
3. Jorrel Hato (Ajax)

One route that Liverpool could go down is signing a young player with a view to slowly progressing him into the first team.
And that would be the case with Ajax sensation Jorrel Hato, with the Anfield club closely monitoring the 18-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
2. Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace)
Chelsea academy graduate Guehi left Stamford Bridge for pastures new in 2021, making the short trip across London to Crystal Palace, and he hasn’t looked back since.
The 23-year-old has since received 10 England call-ups, with The Telegraph reporting in February that the Reds are interested in signing the centre-back as the Eagles face a battle to keep him and other leading players.
1. Goncalo Inacio (Sporting Lisbon)

Sporting Lisbon star Inacio has been hugely impressive domestically and in Europe this season, with the 22-year-old already with 41 appearances to his name in all competitions.
A switch to Anfield could, however, be on the cards this summer, with that potential move extremely likely if his manager Ruben Amorim takes over in the dugout on Merseyside, with the 39-year-old the favourite for the role, sources have told Football Insider.
