Liverpool transfer news: Mohamed Salah to pick between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been tipped to join either the MLS or the Saudi Pro League when he leaves Anfield.

The winger has been touted to be on the way out this summer, after a tumultuous season for both the Reds and the player himself.

Before Salah departed for the Africa Cup of Nations, he publicly fell out with manager Arne Slot, admitting that he no longer shared a relationship with him.

The pair appear to have settled their differences in the weeks since the forward’s return, but uncertainty continues to surround the futures of both men.

Liverpool’s transfer plans for the summer will surely be dictated by Salah’s movements, with his contract due to end in 2027.

Mohamed Salah odds narrow

It has been a bizarre season for Salah and Liverpool, with the heights of last season’s Premier League glory now a distant memory.

The Egypt international enjoyed a staggering campaign, contributing 29 goals and 18 assists for arguably the best individual season in Premier League history.

And when the Reds splashed the cash massively in the summer – spending well over £400million – they looked set to go back-to-back.

A mid-season collapse has left Liverpool in a fight for Champions League football, however, with Slot under huge pressure.

Salah was even dropped in the build-up to December’s outburst, with the 33-year-old boasting just five Premier League goals to his name this season.

Football Insider exclusively revealed last month that Salah will leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

If not for a turnaround in the situation, one major bookmaker has named any MLS side as the favourite to sign him at 6/4.

Such a move could see him join up with Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr are also a leading contender at 2/1.

Arne Slot future could weigh heavily

Slot’s future is also set to weigh in on what happens when it comes to Salah this summer.

The Dutchman remains under pressure at Anfield, with many Liverpool fans frustrated and keen to see him replaced.

Slot’s relationship with Salah is not clear currently, but the fact that the Egyptian continues to feature would suggest an agreement was found.

The 47-year-old is 8/1 to be the next Premier League manager to face the sack, according to one major bookmaker.
