Lucas Bergvall nightmare, Wilson Odobert stunning – Tottenham player ratings v AZ
Tottenham are through to the Europa League quarter-finals despite another calamitous piece of defending from Lucas Bergvall.
Spurs struck first in the 26th minute, after Heung-Min Son relentlessly pressed the AZ defence, forcing a turnover that landed at the feet of Dominic Solanke, and the English forward smartly swept the ball to his right, setting up Wilson Odobert for his first European goal.
Tottenham then took the lead in the tie, thanks to James Maddison, after a tidy little one-two with Son, the England international slammed home in the 48th minute.
Bergvall and Odobert suffered a huge mix-up in the 63rd minute, giving Peer Koopmeiners the opportunity to level the tie, which he did with aplomb.
Spurs responded only 11 minutes later, as Solanke once again assisted Odobert, following a lovely team move, and the French winger doubled his Tottenham tally to give the North London side the lead once again.
Tottenham secured their progression, following a nervy end to the match, and will now face Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals.
