“I have to be professional, think about the team and see what is going to happen.
“I don’t want this for my career, especially at my age. I’m not close to retiring and have many years ahead of me.
“Of course there are always rumours but today the best place for me to be is Liverpool. I cannot say about tomorrow.”
Lucas has featured in 14 encounters for Liverpool still in all competitions this season with 10 coming in the Premier League.
However, he has mainly been used as a utility man and made a number of appearances out of position as a centre-back.
Klopp’s side are currently blessed in the midfield ranks with Adam Lallana, Georginio Wjnaldum and Emre Can as regulars in the centre of the park.
All three have been key to seeing battle at the top of the Premier League table in second and five points behind league leaders Chelsea.
It is more than likely that Lucas will have to once again watch from the sidelines on Sunday as Liverpool take on fierce rivals Manchester United in their next league match at Old Trafford.
In other Liverpool news, former Reds midfielder Dietmar Hamann has commented on who will have the edge in Sunday’s clash.
