Lucas Paqueta, Summerville react to Niclas Fullkrug’s passionate West Ham post

Niclas Fullkrug sent an emotional message to the West Ham faithful following an extremely difficult campaign in East London.

It has been a rollercoaster of a first season in England for the German striker, who struggled to maintain his fitness for much of the campaign, but still became a favoured figure at the London Stadium.

Many supporters were amazed by Fullkrug’s outburst following the Hammers’ 1-1 draw with Southampton last month, bringing a much-needed fighting personality into the squad.

Despite his issues off the pitch, when the £27million forward managed to stay fit [BBC Sport], he notched three goals and two assists, causing plenty of problems for opposition defenders in the Premier League.

Now, the 32-year-old has been brutally honest about proceedings at the London Stadium before heading off for international duty, which has surely earned him even more fans.

Niclas Fullkrug shares honest view with West Ham faithful

Taking to Instagram (28 May), Fullkrug wrote: “Before the quick turnaround to the national team, I just wanted to leave a short message to all you Hammers fans:

“The past season wasn’t easy – a lot of ups and downs, both for us as a team and for me, personally, especially with my injuries. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to perform the way I had hoped.

“But even when things didn’t go our way, your support never wavered. Thank you for always standing behind us!” gaining likes from Crysencio Summer, Lucas Paqueta, and Emerson Palmieri.

Graham Potter has serious problems to solve in East London

Football Insider verdict

Graham Potter has struggled immensely since being appointed by David Sullivan and Karren Brady, trying to pick up the pieces after Julen Lopetegui’s miserable spell in East London.

Winning just 26 per-cent of his games in charge, West Ham fans have not been convinced by Potter’s playing style, though they did finish the season on a high with a 3-1 win over Ipswich Town.

The former Brighton and Chelsea certainly needs to make some cut-throat decisions this summer, and Football Insider understands that Newcastle United are planning a move for Mohammed Kudus.

Getting rid of the deadweight in the squad will be of vital importance if Potter is to succeed with the Hammers next season, and Kudus might just be one of multiple high-profile exits.

Lukasz Fabianski, Aaron Cresswell, Danny Ings, and Vladimir Coufal are all set to leave at the end of their contracts, with Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen being linked with West Ham exits.

Of course, supporters are against some of those transfers, especially the latter two, but the new manager hitting the reset button could come at quite a cost if he gets his way before the 2025/26 season.
