Man City could complete Robert Lewandowski signing after source’s transfer reveal – pundit

Alan Hutton has admitted Gabriel Jesus’ future at Man City hinges on the club’s plans to sign a new striker this summer.

The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 25-year-old would be “more than happy” to sign a new contract, with his current terms expiring next summer.

A City source told Football Insider in February, that the club are in the market for a new top-class centre-forward this summer, with Erling Haaland top of their shortlist.

However, Polish journalist Sebastian Staszewski has reported City, as well as Barcelona, PSG and Liverpool, have prepared contract offers for Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski in case the German giants let him go.

With Jesus set to enter the final 12 months of his contract, Hutton suggested any new deal could depend on who City sign.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’s an interesting one. He’s still only 25, so he’s obviously got a lot of football left.

“It really depends on which way Pep Guardiola wants to go down. Me sitting here, I have no idea who they’re looking to bring in.

“Would it be Haaland, would it be Lewandowski? I have no clue. It just really depends on the way that they’re going to go.

“I do think he gives you something different. I’m pretty sure he’d be more than happy to sign a new contract if it was on the table.

“He gives you something a little bit different to the players that they have already got.”

Jesus has scored 89 goals in 227 games across all competitions for City.

However, he has started just 20 times in 32 appearances under Guardiola this season.
