Finance guru: Man City set for £153m windfall – ‘It’s just sensational’
Man City will earn around £152.5million in prize money and TV cash for winning the Premier League.
So says finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after City secured a fourth league title in five seasons in dramatic fashion last Sunday (22 May).
Pep Guardiola’s side scored three times in six minutes to win 3-2 against Aston Villa on the final day and pip Liverpool to top spot.
City’s official trophy parade took place on Tuesday (23 May) with thousands lining the streets of Manchester.
They topped the Deloitte Football Money League with revenues of £570million after they won the title in 2020-21
And Plumley broke down exactly how much City will earn for repeating the “sensational” feat.
“You get £2m per place on merit,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“You then get an equal share of the central TV money, a merit payment, and then facility fees for each time you are on TV. Then the international rights are split between an equal share and then a merit payment.
“For winning the league last season, they took £152.5m in payments. The merit payment was £35m from the UK and £8.3m from the international pot. That’s £43.5m for finishing top.
“As much as some like to put them down, it’s just sensational what they are doing, winning it again.”

City ended the season with 93 points.
It is the third time under Guardiola that they have finished above the 90-point threshold.
