Finance guru issues verdict on Man City being docked points and stripped of titles amid new leak
The Premier League are unlikely to dock Man City points or strip them of titles as to do so would set an unworkable precedent.
So says finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about new allegations of financial misconduct levelled at City.
German outlet Der Spiegel reported last Thursday (7 April) that the Premier League leaders have flouted a multitude of financial fair play regulations.

Alleged leaked documents appear to show that City artificially boosted their financial fair player standing through surrogate sponsorship arrangements.
City eventually overturned a two-year Uefa competition ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport when similar allegations surfaced in February 2020.
Plumley forecasts that the Premier League, who have jurisdiction over their own FFP regulations, will also be unable to impose the harshest sanctions.
“The problem is that you look to the other recent examples,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“Everton, for example. It is on a different scale but they still haven’t sanctioned them. Benchmarking is important.
“Uefa tried to ban City from the Champions League, which ultimately failed. So, what do the Premier League do?
“Are we talking points deductions and being stripped of titles? This is the problem with sanctions because you almost have to do it in real-time.
“If you don’t, they’ll turn around and say that this is for something that happened years ago. It’s really tricky.”

Everton reportedly have a monitoring agreement in place with the Premier League to avoid sanctions stemming from their enormous FFP losses.
City meanwhile posted a profit of £2.4million for the 2020-21 financial year and were the biggest revenue generators in world football.
