It is believed that many clubs across Europe and the Premier League are also keeping tabs on the midfielder ahead of the summer.
The Brazil international has a £100million release clause in his Newcastle contract and garnered mass interest in the January transfer window – reportedly from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, he is one of many midfield targets for Man City this summer.
Well-placed sources told Football Insider (28 February) that City are stepping up their interest in Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz, with Guardiola a “huge fan” of the Brazilian.
Football Insider also revealed (27 March) that West Ham United expect the Premier League holders to move again for Lucas Paqueta this summer.
