Man City to be stripped of their titles? Wyness reacts to Premier League update
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed it is unlikely Man City will be stripped of their previous honours as potential punishment for financial breaches.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed a sanction will “depend on how serious the breaches are and how clearly they can be proven”.
Wyness has previously told Football Insider (20 November) that the public may not hear anything about the 115 charges case until Easter in 2025.
Man City and the Premier League have been locked in an independent commission hearing over the breaches since mid-September.
The Etihad Stadium club have always maintained innocence and insist they have irrefutable evidence to prove it.
Pep Guardiola’s side have won the Premier League in the last four seasons and have also won a glut of domestic cups since their Abu Dhabi takeover in 2008.
Man City unlikely to be stripped of their titles, says Wyness
When asked about the potential for City to be stripped of their titles, Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It will depend on how serious the breaches are and how clearly they can be proven.
“I don’t see the stripping of titles for City being the outcome.
“It was interesting to see Nick De Marco KC say that he doesn’t want to see big points deductions, he still wants things decided on the pitch.

“Now, that’s one argument.
“Certainly the option to strip City of their titles is available to the Premier League, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
