Man United could be about to sign next ‘Jadon Sancho’ as talks held – pundit
Paul Robinson has insisted Erik ten Hag must be allowed to bring in “fresh blood” at Man United amid links to Christopher Nkunku.
The former England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, hailed the 24-year-old’s “brilliant” form at RB Leipzig.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg (11 April), Man United have held internal talks over the potential signing of Nkunku this summer – with current interim boss Ralf Rangnick a “big fan” of the Frenchman.
The attacking midfielder, who is contracted at Leipzig until June 2024, has netted 30 goals in 43 games this term.
As revealed by Football Insider on Tuesday (11 April), Man United are set to trigger Ten Hag’s £1.7million release clause at Ajax to make him their new manager.
Robinson suggested any potential move for Nkunku could hinge on the approval of the incoming Dutchman.
However, he warned that the midfielder could take time to adjust to the Premier League – citing Jadon Sancho.
“It’s a big step up for him,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“He’s had a brilliant season, and the Bundesliga has had a real nous for producing top talent in the Premier League – he could be another off that conveyor belt.
“I don’t think he’d be one who would settle immediately. He would probably take a bit of time to adjust, just as Sancho has.
“It depends what Ten Hag wants. That dressing room needs shaking up, and there is a lot of deadwood that needs to be moved on. He has to be allowed to bring in some fresh blood.”

Sancho has notched five Man United goals since his big-money move from Dortmund in 2021.
Man United sit seventh in the Premier League.
