Man United destruction by Newcastle sparks ‘crazy’ response from ‘rubbish’ player
Man United were dismantled 4-1 by Newcastle and sparked a “crazy” realisation from a former Premier League forward.
When Ruben Amorim took over at Man United, the Red Devils were four points off the top four. That gap is now 18 points.
United were never in the running for a place in the Champions League this season, but the points gap underlines just how poor the 20-time champions of England have been since the Portuguese boss took over at Old Trafford.
Against Newcastle, it was the same old story. Despite a goal from January Chelsea target Alejandro Garnacho to level the scores at 1-1, United never looked like winning the game, succumbing to a second-half flurry of goals, as they slumped to a 4-1 defeat.

Gabby Agbonlahor slams Man United squad
Following the loss, ex-Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor took to X to post his thoughts on United’s defeat.
The 38-year-old highlighted how, despite being “rubbish”, during his playing career, he would stand out in the Red Devil’s current squad.
The former England international said: “What’s crazy is I was rubbish but I would be the second best Manchester United player on the pitch if I played for Man United yesterday! How bad must that group of players be”.
Man United may be unfixable for Ruben Amorim
Football Insider Verdict
Whilst the former Villa man’s claims would seem somewhat hyperbolic, they become harder to dispute the more you analyse United’s side.
Bruno Fernandes is the standout performer and has demonstrated the ability to consistently perform, no matter the manager in charge.
Past the Portuguese midfielder, there are few who look worthy of wearing a United shirt in the long run.

Noussair Mazraoui has performed admirably for most of the season, but his performance against Newcastle was miserable and full of mistakes.
Garnacho has his moments, but there would unlikely be many United fans against seeing the club cash in on the young Argentinean.
The further you look, the worse it gets, and the more it becomes clear that the task Amorim has on his hands may just be insurmountable, especially with United reportedly working on a vastly reduced transfer budget this summer.
