Man United face major transfer ‘problem’ after source’s £50m update – pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted failing to finish in the top-four would be a major blow to Erik ten Hag’s transfer plans at Manchester United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker admitted the Red Devils would struggle to attract “world-class” talent without Champions League football.
As quoted by the Manchester Evening News last week (19 April), Ralf Rangnick revealed United would look to sign as many as 10 new players this summer.

A club source told Football Insider on Friday that incoming manager Ten Hag will have an initial £50million transfer budget.
However, Whelan suggested top-class players would have no interest in joining if they are not playing Champions League football.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “A lot of the signings that they want to bring in will depend on where they are in the league at the end of the season.
“You talk about top-class, world-class players. These world-class players play in the Champions League. They are not going to be interested in just the Europa League.
“This is a problem. This is why for them Arsenal and Tottenham that race for fourth place is so important.
“That dictates their transfer window in the summer, from category A to category B and C.”
United confirmed this week that ten Hag will become the club’s new permanent manager after Rangnick’s interim spell.

The Red Devils currently sit sixth in the Premier League table.
They are six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, who beat them 3-1 on Saturday.
