Man United Insider names club ‘leading race to sign Marcus Rashford’
Borussia Dortmund are the leading candidates in the race to sign Marcus Rashford from Man United, according to the club’s former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during their most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the Bundesliga outfit are exploring both loan and permanent moves this month.
Dortmund’s previous work with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham has made them an “ideal” option for Rashford, who is keen to take himself out of the spotlight.
A move to Germany would allow him to remove himself from the pressure that comes with playing in England under scrutiny from the fans and the media.
Brown explained that the Bundesliga is less intense than the Premier League, and would allow the forward to slow down and focus on his game.

AC Milan, PSG and Monaco had all been linked with moves to sign Rashford this month, with a decision expected before the deadline on 3 February.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely with players at the top level and also worked as a scout for the likes of West Ham and Tottenham, insisted that Dortmund represent the best option for Rashford and could move ahead of the queue for his signature.
“I’ve heard there’s interest from Borussia Dortmund,” he told Football Insider.
“I think they’re the front-runners at the moment.
“Of all the moves that have been mooted so far, I think that’s the best one for Marcus.
“You see what they’ve done with Jude Bellingham and what they did with Sancho, taking him on loan and helping him find his form again.
“I think it’ll be a similar situation for Marcus, whether it’s a loan or permanent move because I think they’re open to both at this stage.
“It’s a good league, they play good football and they’re at the top level there.

“It’s not as demanding as the Premier League because it’s very unforgiving in England, but that will allow him to focus on his game and find his level again.
“It would also get him out of the spotlight that he’s under from the fans and media in England.”
