Man United insider reveals ‘likely’ Marcus Rashford destination after talks
Marcus Rashford is more likely to move abroad rather than remaining in the Premier League when he leaves Man United, according to the club’s former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during their most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the 27-year-old needs to step away from the constant spotlight and pressure in England.
Rashford is widely expected to leave the club this month as he is no longer a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans, while he confessed the time has come to move on.
Brown told Football Insider in December that French giants PSG have shown an interest in him, while the likes of AC Milan and Monaco are also keeping tabs on his situation with talks held this month with a number of his suitors.
Now, he has explained that the forward would benefit from taking himself out of the spotlight and being able to focus on getting back to his best form.
Comparisons were drawn with Jadon Sancho, who went on loan to Borussia Dortmund following a bust-up with Erik ten Hag and stepped up his performances.
Marcus Rashford backed to move abroad in Man United exit news
Rashford has been left out of the side in United’s last four Premier League games, as well as their last EFL Cup and FA cup clashes, while he has not played for England since March 2024.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top level player recruitment and also worked closely with top players during his time at Old Trafford, insisted that the media spotlight in England has only increased the pressure on his performances.
“He needs to go abroad, get away from England,” he told Football Insider.
“Because when he’s having a bad time, he can’t get away from it, and everything he does is highlighted by fans and pundits.
“He didn’t chase that ball, didn’t make that run, didn’t make the right pass etc.
“The more all of that sort of thing piles up, the more it’ll play on his mind, and then it’s a vicious cycle.
“There’s so much pressure on him, and I think there’s only one way to get away from that.
“Plus, he’s not playing games. He’s got to go somewhere where they trust him to play regular football.

“I think somewhere like Germany, Italy or France would be perfect, because the skill level is still there but the pressure and physicality is slightly less than the Premier League.
“That would give him a bit of breathing space to go and do what he can do.”
