Man United make Sofyan Amrabat transfer decision – sources

Sofyan Amrabat will leave Man United when his loan deal expires at the end of the season and he will return to Italy with Fiorentina.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that United will not be extending the midfielder’s loan deal after a disappointing season at Old Trafford.

Amrabat, 27, has made 20 appearances in the Premier League this season, with just nine of those appearances coming from the start.

O’Rourke then explained that the upcoming window will be a “huge” test for the club’s new-look recruitment department with multiple players expected to leave.

Sofyan Amrabat to leave Man United

Football Insider reported on 21 April that, despite a £21.4million option to buy, it looked unlikely that United would move to trigger the clause.

United paid an £8.5million loan fee to bring Amrabat to Old Trafford after his reputation sky-rocketed during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The defensive midfielder was an integral part of the Morocco side which reached the quarter-finals of the tournament mid-way through last season.

However, United are not happy with his performances since his arrival and have no intentions of continuing his stay at the club.

O’Rourke explained that Amrabat is likely to remain in Italy next season, returning to his parent club after an unsuccessful spell in the Premier League.
