Man United news: Cristiano Ronaldo should be banned after ‘shocking’ update in last 24 hours – pundit

The FA should slap Cristiano Ronaldo with a Man United suspension, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Ronaldo feels he is untouchable after his “shocking” reaction following Man United’s 1-0 loss to Everton on Saturday (9 April).

The 36-year-old was filmed slapping a mobile phone out of the hand of a young autistic Everton fan.

He apologised via Instagram on Sunday (10 April) and invited the youngster to Old Trafford as a “sportsmanship”.

The child’s mother told Sky News today (12 April) that she did not think the apology was genuine and did not want to communicate with Ronaldo.

“If it was any other player this would have been a bigger story and a bigger problem, Ronaldo feels like he can do whatever he wants,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He’s offered to bring the young boy to a Man United game but that’s a punishment at the moment. Why would an Everton fan go to watch Man United play?

“He should be buying him a new phone and try and get him Everton tickets.

“It’s shocking from Ronaldo. Don’t take out your poor performance on a young fan.

“It’s very poor and he should be punished. The club won’t punish him, he could come in six hours late and they wouldn’t do anything.

“What needs to happen is the FA needs to fine him and give him a suspension.

“He needs to know you can’t do whatever you want. Yes, you’re one of the best players to ever play the game but that doesn’t give you a licence to do whatever you like.”

In other news, Man United are ready to trigger a seven-figure release clause and will make an announcement next week.
