Man United news: Erik ten Hag may have ‘unbelievable plan’ after £50m transfer reveal – pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested Erik ten Hag may have an “unbelievable plan up his sleeve” with a limited transfer budget at Man United this summer.

The former Scotland star, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Dutch manager has a “huge job” on his hands to “rebuild” the squad.

As revealed by Football Insider on Saturday (23 April), Ten Hag will have to work within strict financial parameters in the transfer window.

A United source explained the initial budget will be around £50million, with further funds to be raised by player sales.

Hutton admitted Ten Hag may have to work his magic to conduct an overhaul of an aging playing squad.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’s a strange one.

“Unless he’s got some unbelievable plan up his sleeve, where he knows all these youngsters that are going to come through and hit the ground running.

“If you look at the squad, Matic is leaving, Varane’s not getting any younger, Ronaldo’s the same.

“The thought of only having possibly £50million to start the rebuild is a bit of a strange one.

“It’s not going to happen in one transfer window. This is going to take years.

“I think it is a huge job that needs to be done there. It’s going to take a while.”

Matic is one of six players set to be out of contract at Old Trafford this summer.
