Man United profit from referee conspiracy as controversial footage emerges – Agbonlahor
Man United are continuing to benefit from dodgy referee decisions despite their fall from grace, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Man United have been helped by referees for the past 30 years, especially at Old Trafford.
In the 2-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion at home on Saturday (6 August) the major calls by Paul Tierney went their way.
Firstly, in the 25th minute, Scott McTominay was only shown a yellow card when he planted his studs in Moises Caicedo’s shin.
In the second half, Lisandro Martinez got away with a push on Danny Welbeck in his own penalty box that the referee ignored and VAR did not intervene.
“They got away with decisions, they always do that, it’s Man United,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“They’ve been getting away with decisions like that for 30 years, especially at Old Trafford.
“It wasn’t just that though, Brighton looked like a team that had been coached and understood tactics.
“Man United looked like a team where Ten Hag doesn’t even look like he’s getting what he wants from them already.
“Brighton were keeping the ball and getting through like they were Barcelona. It was effortless.
“Man United looked disorganised and made Welbeck look like prime Brazilian Ronaldo.”
After their dreadful start to the Premier League season, United are next in action on Saturday (13 August) when they visit Brentford.
The following Monday (22 August), Liverpool travel to Old Trafford after winning 5-0 there last season.
In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Man United have banked a “seven-figure” windfall amid news from California.
