Man United to learn from previous mistake as Jadon Sancho set for free transfer
Manchester United have a decision to make over Jadon Sancho’s contract situation at Old Trafford.
Sancho signed for Aston Villa on a season-long loan after Man United spent the summer window trying to offload the winger.
Villa will cover 80 per cent of Sancho’s wages, which are believed to be worth around £300,000 a week.
However, Man United have an option to extend Sancho’s deal at Old Trafford by a further year, with his contract set to expire in June 2026.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the only reason Ruben Amorim’s side would trigger the 25-year-old’s extension is if they can sell him for a fee next summer.

Man United to make new Jadon Sancho contract decision
Sancho has endured a disappointing spell at Man United, having joined from Borussia Dortmund for £73million in the summer of 2021.
The winger, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea, has registered 12 goals and six assists in 83 appearances at Old Trafford.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “They’ve got an option on Sancho.
“The only way they’d take that one up is on the basis that it helps them then sell him for value, maybe to Villa or somebody else because he’s then in contract.
“But I think on him, the likelihood is that they’ll just let the contract lapse, allow him to go on a free transfer and not take the liability.”

Sancho has made three appearances since making his loan move to Villa Park.
Man United warned after previous contract decision
Man United have time to consider Sancho’s contract situation before deciding against extending his deal by a further year next summer.
Borson said: “I think they had a similar situation a few years ago.
“I can’t remember which player it was where they took the option, and it didn’t help them actually sell him, so they ended up just effectively giving themselves a liability for a year because they didn’t want him.

“They wanted to sign him on that contract and then sell him for value, but it actually backfired because he then wasn’t attractive to anybody and you’ve ended up with his salary for a year and he barely played.”
Football Insider revealed on 7 September top European clubs are interested in signing Sancho ahead of his contract at Old Trafford expiring at the end of this season.
