Marcus Rashford and James Trafford react as Newcastle agree new signing
Premier League stars were quick to react to Newcastle’s latest announcement regarding their first major signing of the window.
Eddie Howe’s side are gearing up for a return to Champions League football next season, but their summer window has so far been slow and filled with setbacks.
Despite long-standing interest, Bryan Mbeumo has made it clear he prefers a move to Manchester United over the Magpies.
Meanwhile, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both opted to join Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea, as both targets turned down a switch to Tyneside.
Strengthening the right flank has been a top priority for Howe and the side have secured an alternative—giving their frontline a much-needed boost and a potentially explosive new dynamic.

Newcastle confirm Anthony Elanga signing in £55m deal
Newcastle have confirmed the signing of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £55 million, making him the joint-second most expensive signing in the club’s history.
The official announcement was posted on the club’s Instagram account on 11 July, with the caption: “Welcome to Newcastle, Anthony! We have completed the signing of winger Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest on a long-term deal.”
Elanga later reposted the announcement on his own account, which received plenty of attention. Former teammate Marcus Rashford was among those to like the post, along with Joelinton and William Osula.
James Trafford, who has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle, also liked the post—potentially giving a hint at his future plans.
Elanga played a pivotal role for Forest last season, helping them secure a seventh-place finish in the Premier League and qualify for European competition for the first time in 29 years.
Since joining from Manchester United, the 23-year-old has impressed at the City Ground, racking up 82 appearances, 11 goals and 21 assists during his two-year spell.

Newcastle plot next move with interest in Jack Grealish
With the Elanga deal now complete, the Magpies are looking to continue strengthening their attack.
Football Insider exclusively revealed that Newcastle are preparing to accelerate their interest in Jack Grealish this summer.
The England international was left out of Pep Guardiola’s Club World Cup squad and featured for just one minute across Manchester City’s final six league matches.
Football Insider also reported that Grealish feels frozen out at Man City, and with Howe reported to be a long-term admirer of the 29-year-old, a move to St James’ Park could offer him a fresh start.
