Mason Mount tipped to reunite with former Chelsea boss after source’s reveal – pundit
Frank McAvennie has backed Mason Mount to reunite with Thomas Tuchel if he leaves Chelsea this summer – or otherwise complete a move to Liverpool.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker is “surprised” the Blues are willing to let go of one of their best players.
The 24-year-old will have a year left on his current contract at the end of the season and has been locked in negotiations over a new deal for months.
Earlier this month (1 April), Football Insider revealed that the Blues have offered Mount a deal worth £180,000-per-week but he has knocked it back and talks have collapsed.
The England international is holding out for a deal that is the same as his teammate Reece James, who is earning £250,000-per-week.
According to The Times (28 March), Bayern Munich are keen to take advantage of the midfielder’s contract situation and financial difficulties at the club to bring Mount to Germany.
Former Blues boss Tuchel took over at Bayern last month and is keen to reunited with his former player.
Liverpool are leading the Premier League clubs also in hot pursuit and, according to Football Insider sources, are well placed to secure a deal this summer.
McAvennie can’t believe Chelsea are willing to let Mount go.
“It has been all over the place,” he told Football Insider.
“If Mount has been told that he can go I just do not get it. I think he is a wonderful talent and he is the one player I would have tied down.

“I am surprised that Chelsea are going to let him go but I am not surprised that Tuchel will want to take him. He has trained him, he knows how he is and what he is all about. I know he is going to go somewhere, it will happen.
“Liverpool are also very likely and he could be great for them as well.“
