Jack Grealish is edging closer to joining Man City and his mega-money transfer from Aston Villa is expected to be completed next week, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

Now a Villa source has told Football Insider that the club accept they are fighting a lose battle to stop Grealish moving to City.

It is expected that the England international, 25, will move to Etihad Stadium when he returns from holiday "next week".

Villa have tried to keep hold of their talisman with the offer of a double-your-money contract.

But he has his heart set on joining Pep Guardiola's champions and now it is a matter of the two club's agreeing the fee.

City believe they have made progress on that front and are willing to pay £90million including add-ons.

Grealish is keen to leave Villa on good terms, the source explained, due to his relationship with his boyhood club.

Significantly, Grealish wants to play regularly in the Champions League as well as develop his game under Guardiola.

The Villa skipper signed a new five-year contract last September that runs until the summer of 2025.
