Bournemouth have joined Stoke City in the chase to sign Manchester City forward Liam Delap, Football Insider understands.

City are willing to loan Delap out for the season to gain regular senior playing experience.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider both clubs have now registered their interest in a loan deal.

Bournemouth are looking to replace young attacker Sam Surridge after he left the club to join Stoke.

The clubs confirmed the deal yesterday.

Delap, 18, signed for Man City in 2019 after spending 10 years coming through the ranks at Derby County.

The forward was in incredible form for City’s youth sides last season, scoring 24 goals in just 20 Premier League 2 outings.

This form clearly caught the eye of Pep Guardiola as Delap was handed three appearances for the first team last year.

He was given 39 Premier League minutes as City lost 5-2 to Leicester at the start of the season and made appearances in both domestic cups.

Ironically, Delap scored his first City goal on his first start against new suitors Bournemouth in the FA Cup.

Liam does have strong connections to Stoke, however, as his Dad is club icon Rory Delap.

Rory made 208 appearances for the Potters during his career and remains popular with the fans.

He is currently working at the club in a coaching role.
